Impact – Days 4 and 5

Well, I had hoped to stay current with the updates while at the conference, but an inability to get to the internet combined with fatigue put an end to that.

The fourth day of the conference was on Saturday the 30th. There were general sessions that day and an evangelism event. 15 buses picked up people from the conference and took them to various parts of the city where they teamed up with folks from local churches. Those teams went out to distribute food and share the gospel. We did not go along but just one group we talked to said they shared the gospel around 30 times and had 14 people indicate decisions for Christ. There were tons of groups like this all over the area. We took the time to recover a bit.

The Chik-fil-a bowl was happening that night and we watched the parade they had from the hotel. I took Ingrid and the kids to a lobby type area near where I’d been doing a lot of my work and we had a great view out to the street where the parade ran by. It was cold and wet outside so it was nice to be dry and warm as we watched it.

I did do some work that day and Ingrid was doing daycare during the day and manning the bookstore again from 9:00pm to 1:30am. There was also a large number of people in the hotel for the bowl game. Many of them acting in ways that seemed to indicate that they were not believers. I’m hoping maybe they were curious about what was going on and got to hear the good news.

An interesting site Sunday morning was a man standing in a lobby, a beer bottle in one hand, a cigarette in the other- looking at the display that Wycliffe had set up.

Sunday was quieter, with many of the football people leaving and we started packing equipment for it to be shipped on to the next place it would be used. Monday we drove home and about 6:00 pm Monday night we were back home. It was a lot of work but we are so glad we got to be a part of that conference.
